About the Crisis
In late 2025, Cyclone Ditwah brought intense rainfall and widespread flooding across Sri Lanka, triggering landslides, infrastructure damage, and mass displacement. Western districts including Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara experienced severe flooding as rivers overflowed and communities remained underwater for days. The floods disrupted livelihoods, education, and access to safe housing, leaving thousands of families unable to return to normal life. As emergency relief efforts stabilised the situation, attention shifted toward long-term rehabilitation and rebuilding.
Aim of this project
The Project Aims to Restore Over 150,000 People's Access to their homes, cleaning and purifying living conditions, re-establish normalcy of daily life, to Implement Protective Measures, to Reduce Future Flood Impacts. The Emergency Rehabilitation Work Would Restore Economic and Social Functions While Creating environment for reconnecting with daily employment opportunities for Flood Victims.
Where support goes
Supporting the cleaning and purification of flood-affected homes and surroundings, helping families safely return to their living spaces.
Providing support that helps affected individuals stabilise daily life and regain access to essential provisions and community support.
Encouraging self-income generation initiatives for low-income families and daily wage earners to rebuild financial stability.
Repairing damaged homes, restoring essential infrastructure, and improving safe living conditions for returning families.
Providing essential school supplies and educational support to help students return to learning after the floods.
